Before discussing all the details about the JEE Main exam, let’s know the basic knowledge about the India’s one of the biggest exams, Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE Main). JEE Main is a national level undergraduate (UG) engineering entrance exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for admission to B.Tech/B.E programs in NITs (National Institutes Of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institute Of Information Technology) and CFTIs (Centrally Funded Technical Institutes). It is also the first stage for admission in IITs (Indian Institute Of Technology).
This Examination, originally called AIEEE, was renamed as Indian Institute Of Technology (IIT Main) in April 2013. IIT Mains exam held in the first week of April and the result declares in the last week of May month or in the first week of June. CBSE has released the notification or information Broucher for the JEE Main 2018. The Offline exam or Pen & Paper mode exam will be conducted on 8th April 2018 and Online Exam or Computer Based Test (CBT) will be held on 15th & 16th April 2018. The application forms will be available from 1 December 2017 to 1st January 2018 in online mode. The last date to pay the Application form fees is 2nd January 2018. New In JEE Main 2018
- This Year the exam will be held in English, Hindi and Gujarati languages only while JEE Main 2017 was held in English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi and Urdu languages.
- The number of candidates which will be shortlisted for the JEE Advanced has been increased to 2,24,000 from 2,20,000.
- The number of exam centers has increased to 258 from 113, including 10 centers outside India.
- Candidates have to upload the scanned copy of the signature of Father/Mother/Guardian while filling the application form.
- The number of participating IIITs has reduced to 20 from 23 and number of CFTIs has increased to 22 form 20.
JEE Main 2018 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the JEE Main have to meet the eligibility criteria in order to get the admission which is set by the conducting body. If a candidate fails to meet all the requirements than his/her candidature will be canceled. So we advise candidates to read all the terms and conditions carefully:-
- Age Limit: The applicants must have 25 years old that means aspirant must be born on or after 1st October 1993. For the candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PWD category, the age limit criteria have relaxed by 5 years.
- Academic Qualification: The applicant should have qualified the 12th standard or its equivalent. The applicant who is appearing for the 12th standard final exams in the same year i.e. 2018 is also eligible.
- Qualifying Marks: The general category applicant should have scored minimum 75% marks or should be in top 20 percentile in their class 12th board or equivalent examination while SC/ST category applicant should score at least 65% marks.
- Number Of Subjects: The applicant should have to take at least 5 subjects in 12th standard.
- Aadhar Card Number: The aspirants must have a valid Aadhar Card and registered Aadhar Number.
- Number of Attempts: The applicant will be able to apply for JEE Mains exam only 3 times in consecutive years.
JEE Main Exam Centers 2018
The exam centers are the venues where the exam will be conducted. The JEE Main exam will be conducted at 258 exam centers in India and Abroad. Out of which 248 centers are in India and 10 centers are outside India. Candidates have to select the 4 exam centers in order fo their preference for the offline exam and 1 exam center for the online exam while filling the application form. The exam center details will be displayed on the admit card.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) which is the conducting body of the exam, will release the application form on 1st December 2017 in online mode. The last date of applying will be 1st January 2018. Aspirants can pay the application fees until 2nd January 2018. Application fee can be filled in online mode as well as offline mode. To fill the form, candidates must keep the required documents ready with them in the prescribed format.

Step 1- Registration: Candidates have to register themselves through the official website of JEE Main. In 1st step, a password will be generated.
Step 2- Filling Information: In this step candidates have to fill their personal details, educational details, exam related details and other important details.
Step 3- Uploading of Image and Signature: In this step, candidates have to upload their photo, signature and left-hand thumb impression properly.
Step 4- Payment Fee: Candidates can pay the fee through online method or with e-challan.
Step 5- Print Out Application Form: After fee payment, the final step is to download the acknowledgment page for future purpose.

Admit Card is the most important document at the time of exam which has to be carried by the candidate. CBSE will tentatively release the admit card in the second week of the March 2018. The admit card will be available online and only those candidates will be able to download it whose application form will be successfully accepted by the CBSE. The official answer key of JEE Main will be released by the CBSE from 24th to 27th April 2018. The CBSE will also release the candidates OMR (Optimal Response Sheet) along with the answer key. Candidates can check/View/Challange the answer key by matching their OMR sheet and Answer key. By comparing the answer key, aspirants can get an idea of their score.
The Result of IIT JEE Main 2018 will be released by the CBSE in online mode. The result for JEE Main Paper-1 will be released on 30th April while for the Paper-2 will be declared on 31st may 2018. The result will carry the information about the candidate’s score and qualifying status for the JEE Advanced 2018. JEE Main Rank list will also be declared along with the result which reflects candidate’s All India Rank (AIR) and Category rank. The rank list will be prepared on the basis of candidate’s score in the exam and this rank will be used for the admission. To check the result, candidates have to enter their roll number and date of birth.

The JEE Main cutoff 2018 will be released by the CBSE along with the result. The cutoff is the minimum marks that a candidate must score to be eligible for the admission. The candidates who will not qualify the cutoff will not eligible for the admissions. The cutoff marks are the minimum marks for the admission of NITs, IIITs, and CIFTs and also the qualifying marks for appearing in the JEE Advanced.
JEE Main Previous Years Cutoff
JEE Main is a gateway for the applicants into the various engineering institutes of India. The participating Institutes of JEE Main include NITs (National Institutes of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institute of Information Technology) and CFTIs (Central Funded Technical Institutions). Some of the states like Haryana, Uttarakhand, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha also offer admissions to undergraduate engineering on the basis of JEE Main score. Some of the reputed private engineering institutes also offer admission on the basis of this exam.
The JEE Main Counselling is conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). It will tentatively begin from 3rd Week of June and will be conducted until the 3rd week of July 2018. Only those applicants can participate in the counseling who have qualified the JEE Main exam. Applicants have to register themselves for the counseling and have to select their preferred colleges and courses. After this online allocation of the seats is done on the basis of applicant’s rank, category, seat availability and other factors. After seat allotment applicant have to report to the college for document verification and fee payment. JoSAA conducts 6 rounds of counsellings and applicants will be allotted to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs.
