MAT Exam Pattern 2017 has been released by the All India Management Association (AIMA) which is conducting the MAT 2017. The MAT 2017 exam pattern is same as of last year and has remained same over the past several years. The MAT exam is conducted 4 times in a year, each in every quarter. The total time duration of the exam is 2 Hours and 30 Minutes.
MAT exam is divided into five sections: Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills and Indian and Global Environment. The total time duration of the MAT 2017 exam is 2 Hours and 30 Minutes (150 Minutes). There is no time limit assigned section wise. Candidates can answer any question of any section according to their convenience.
MAT is conducted in online mode as well as offline mode. In offline mode, candidates have to mark the circle on OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheet with the pen. In online mode, candidates have to click on the correct option on computers.
Candidates will be awarded 1 mark for each correct answer and 1/4th mark (0.25) will be deducted for each incorrect answer. The total number of marks for the MAT Exam is 200.
Type and Number of Questions
MAT paper will have the total 200 number of questions of Multiple Choice types. Four options for each question will be given and the candidate has to select the correct answer. There are five sections in the paper and each section carries 40 questions.

This section judges the reading skills of the candidate. Test Takers have to read a passage and answer the question based on that passage.
Intelligence and Critical Reasoning
This section carries the questions based on the Data Arrangement, Blood Relations, Series and Sequences and Critical Reasoning, Direction Sense, Input/Output analysis, Coding, and Decoding. This test evaluates candidate’s logical reasoning ability.
Data Analysis and Sufficiency
This section has the questions based on Direction Sense, Input/Output analysis, Coding and Decoding, Data Arrangement, Blood Relations. This section is for measuring test taker’s critical thinking.
This section of MAT exam judges the candidate’s basic mathematical skills. The questions are based on business Mathematics, Arithmetic, and Geometry. Candidates must go through the basic formulas for this section.
Indian and Global Environment
This section is based on domestic and international current affairs. Candidates must aware of the current affairs and general awareness for this section.
