The applicants will be selected for the post of Clerical Cadre in public sector banks on the basis of their performance in the preliminary and mains exam. The final selection will be on the basis of the rank in the final allotment list prepared by the exam authority.

Step 1 – Preliminary Exam
The first step of the IBPS Clerk Selection Procedure is Prelims exam. To take the prelims exam, candidates have to fill the IBPS Clerk Application Form. After the exam, applicants will be shortlisted for the mains exam on the basis of their performance in the exam. IBPS will release the IBPC Clerk Cutoff for the prelims exam. The cutoff will be section-wise and overall. The applicants have to qualify the both cutoffs to be shortlisted for the Mains exam.
Step 2 – Mains Exam
Only those candidates will take the Mains exam who will qualify the prelims exam and will be shortlisted for the mains exam. The Mains exam will be conducted on 21st January 2018. The cutoff will be declared section-wise and overall by the IBPS along with the declaration of the result. The applicants have to score the marks equal to or more than the cutoff to qualify the Mains exam. 100% weight age will be given to the candidate’smarks obtained in the mains exam.
Step 3 – Document Verification
Before the allotment of the seats to the candidates, they have to go through the document verification process. This process will be carried out by the participating institutes individually according to their eligibility criteria. If a candidate fails to meet all requirements then participating organization has the right to cancel the candidate’s allotted seat.
Step 4 – Provisional Allotment
Final allotment will be done on the basis of score obtained by the applicants in Mains exam. The total score in the mains exam will be out of 200. Firstly, they are converted out of 100. After that, IBPS will allot the candidates according to the need of the organizations and on the basis of candidate’s preference. The applicants have to score the maximum score as to keep above in the final allotment list. The applicants who will be above in the list will be preferred first.
Tie Breaking in IBPS Clerk Selection Procedure
If two or more applicants have the same score then the merit order will be decided on the basis of date of birth which means the applicant senior in the age will be placed above to the junior in age as per the IBPS Clerk Selection Procedure.
