IELTS Test Pattern 2017 is designed by the two major conducting authorities of  The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) that are Educational Testing Service (ETS) and British Council. IELTS Exam is graded on the IELTS 9-Band Scale b y the conducting bodies. This exam is conducted in two versions that are IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Both of these versions have 4 sections: Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing.

Listening and speaking components are same in both the versions while reading and writing components are different for both the versions that are IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. The total time duration of the test is 2 Hours and 45 Minutes. Listening, writing and reading tests are done in one sitting only while speaking test can be taken on the same day or within 7 days before or after the test.

Candidates can take the Listening, Reading, and Writing test on the same day without any breaks while speaking test can be taken on the same day or within 7 days before or after the test. According to the IELTS Test Pattern speaking test is conducted as a one-on-one test to evaluate the candidate’s English speaking skills. For this candidates are put through a real life conversation with a real person.
